CELTIC FROST Mainman Forging 'Unique Friendship' With SATYRICON
September 14, 2005CELTIC FROST frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer has posted the following message on his official blog:
"Last night was the first time the whole group met since the last one of us returned from Hanover.
"We confirmed the album's title, which had already become obvious after the most recent meeting between Martin [Ain, bass] and me, we determined the final running order of the songs after trying a variety of (at times rather unconventional) options, we talked about label and agency offers, and we discussed in great detail the particulars of the upcoming final studio sessions at Oakland Recording here in Switzerland. We also officially brought back HELLHAMMER's production company, a move I anticipated for some time, and I told the band about a further very extensive phone conversation I had with Satyr of SATYRICON earlier this week. In the course of the events surrounding our new album, there evolved quite a unique friendship between SATYRICON and CELTIC FROST.
"In the coming weeks, Martin and me will also complete work on the liner notes which are to accompany each song. This is the first time we are attempting to provide the background to the individual songs since 'Into the Pandemonium' in 1987.
"There's still lots to do. We all will only be able to unwind a bit once this project has been completed. And once that's done, CELTIC FROST must begin to prepare for the planned concerts next year.
"And we talked about black metal bands and women. Yes, it's customary."
As previously reported, CELTIC FROST have set "Dark Matter Manifest" as the tentative title of their first album in 13 years. The culmination of some three and a half years of songwriting and recording work, the album was largely produced by the band themselves and financed by their own production company, with additional assistance from HYPOCRISY/PAIN mastermind Peter Tägtgren during the final recording and mixing sessions at Horus Sound Studio in Hanover, Germany. Negotiations with a variety of labels are currently underway, and the album is scheduled for a release in early 2006. Original CELTIC FROST members Tom Gabriel Fischer (voice and guitars) and Martin Eric Ain (bass) are joined by Erol Unala (guitar) and Franco Sesa (drums). The band are now managed by Antje Lange for The A Label in Berlin, Germany.
